ARMA 2: Zombie Apocalypse idea/sign up community playdate
Allright, where to start? Well, I saw this video the other day while browsing some Arma videos and well, it impressed me pretty damn well:
It's 50 minutes long, so you don't obviously have to watch all of it, but try to watch a few minutes here and ther and skip around if need be.
Now, we've all seem zombie surival tactic games (L4D, CoD Zombies, and even dead Island) but I truely beleive that this video is prehaps the best zombie survival game simulator I've seen. The basic hardcore simulator of Arma 2 plus a few tweaked scrips here and there accuratly portray the zombie survival scenario.
-It uses a realistic inventory system where you can realistically manage your items
-There is basically zero HUD at all
-It's paced so that you don't get attacked by 100's of zombies at once like in l4d but rather are eerily tracked and followed by zombie across the map
-The map area is huge and I would say could actually be equal to more than a few of the larger BF3 maps combined
-A great amount of realistic weapons and other survival tools
-Great replay-ability
-Everyone here should be able to access and play this
-Easy to install and would take seconds
-Absolutly free

Simple my good friends! I wish for us as a community to play such a game together as harmonious comrades in arms!
So, onto the technical stuff, eh?
Step 1:
Download the game: http://www.arma2.com/free
Knowing most of you guys here, you guys don't use top of the line gaming PCs, but that's fine you should be able to play it regardless (You'll just have to lower video quality in the in game menu). Just go to above link, read up on the page a little bit and go down to the bottom for different download places.
Step 2:
Downloaded and installed? Good, I'd recomment trying out the boot camp for a bit to get yourself familiarized with the controls and to get used to the new game mechanics. Now it's time for the actual "mod" itself. I'd add/upload them here within the post, but the forum can't accept the compressed version or the actual file istelf, so thus I must link:
Mission 1: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=15135
If we all show an interest, I'll link more
Step 3:
Follow all the instructions listed on the pages (Very simple to do and I'll help if need be) and post a message showing any interest at all at playing. From what I've seen 6 of us can play at one time, so let's try and get as many people as we can.

Great, play around with the single player mods a bit and see what you like (I'd change difficulty to recruit, trust me it's even kinda hard on recruit). If you play the first mission under scenarios and somewhat like what you see, I've got a mod for you that implements a whole dynamic and changing warzone. Pretty fun and chaotic even though it's made up of all bots lol
